Selected member cable operators of the Federation of International Cable TV & Telecommunications Association of the Philippines (FICTAP) recently visited Shenzhen, China from June 20 to 24, 2026, upon the invitation of Pioneergoods Telecommunications Co., Ltd. The visit provided the delegates with a valuable opportunity to tour the Pioneergoods manufacturing facility and witness firsthand the actual production process of fiber optic cables, giving them deeper insight into the company’s technology, quality standards, and capabilities. Beyond the business discussions and technical presentations, the trip was also an enriching cultural experience. After productive engagements with the cable operators, Pioneergoods graciously hosted the delegates on a city tour, allowing them to explore Shenzhen’s beautiful landmarks, experience the local culture, and enjoy a memorable gastronomic adventure that truly showcased the richness of Chinese cuisine—an experience that will surely inspire them to return to China in the future. The visit provided the delegates with a valuable opportunity to tour the Pioneergoods manufacturing facility and witness firsthand the actual production process of fiber optic cables, giving them deeper insight into the company’s technology, quality standards, and capabilities. Beyond the business discussions and technical presentations, the trip also included opportunities for cultural appreciation. Following productive engagements with the cable operators, the delegation had the chance to experience select city landmarks and sample local cuisine, providing added context to Shenzhen’s culture and complementing the professional exchanges during the visit. The FICTAP Board of Directors was honored with an invitation to visit the fiber optic cable manufacturing facility of Shenzhen Sopto Technology Co., Ltd. in China from December 7 to 10, 2023. Heading the delegation was the National Chair of FICTAP, Mrs. Estrellita Juliano-Tamano, together with members of the Board.SOPTO, the largest subsidiary of HONGAN Group, traces its roots to 1985 when the group was founded as a leading manufacturer of fiber optic and network cables. In 2010, SOPTO expanded its production line to include FTTX and data center products, further strengthening its position as a major player in the global telecommunications industry. During the visit, the FICTAP delegation was given rare access to SOPTO’s fiber optic cable laboratory, where they were able to witness firsthand the intricate and highly technical process involved in manufacturing fiber optic cables—from raw materials to the precise formation of each fiber strand, up to the final spooling and preparation of finished products ready for shipment to clients worldwide. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime and “one-for-the-books” experience for the FICTAP Board of Directors. Beyond the business and technical engagements, the visit also provided opportunities for professional interaction and cultural exchange. A formal welcome dinner, hosted by the Chairman of SOPTO, Mr. Chen Weidong, served as a venue for meaningful discussions, exchange of ideas, and the strengthening of goodwill between the leadership of FICTAP and SOPTO in a respectful and collegial atmosphere. The strong bond formed during this visit carried on beyond China. The SOPTO Chairman, delighted by the relationship built with FICTAP, traveled to the Philippines the following year to grace FICTAP’s 25th International Cable Congress & Exhibit, marking the association’s Silver Anniversary since its founding in 1999. SOPTO stood as the biggest sponsor of this milestone event. Up to this day, SOPTO continues to be one of FICTAP’s principal business partners, a testament to the enduring partnership built on trust, shared vision, and mutual growth within the telecommunications industry.

The Federation of International Cable TV and Telecommunications Association of the Philippines (FICTAP) Board of Directors successfully held its 4th Quarter Board Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam. On the sidelines of the meeting, the FICTAP Board also met with Mr. Vu Hoang Lien, Chairman of the Vietnam Internet Association (VIA) and an expert member of Vietnam’s National Digital Transformation Council.
The meeting provided an opportunity for meaningful discussions between FICTAP and VIA, focusing on potential areas of collaboration and the possible forging of a sister-association relationship between the two organizations. Both parties expressed mutual interest in strengthening regional cooperation, particularly in the areas of digital transformation, broadband development, and industry advancement.
Mr. Vu Hoang Lien is scheduled to visit the Philippines to attend the 27th FICTAP International Cable Congress and Exhibit on March 5–6, 2026. He will be joined by Mr. Binh Vu-The, General Secretary of the Vietnam Internet Association and a member of the Board of Directors of NetNam. Their participation underscores the growing partnership between FICTAP and its regional counterparts and highlights the importance of international collaboration in the evolving digital landscape.
